Catherine Ann Reed, 75, went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2026 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas after suffering a severe stroke days prior.

Cathy was born December 16, 1950 to Dennis (Hap) and Myrellen (Chick) Arnold. She spent her childhood in New Braunfels, Texas and later Conroe, Texas where Cathy attended Conroe High School. She went on to the University of Texas and finished at their School of Dental Hygiene in Houston. Cathy spent a full career caring for her patients in both Conroe and Bryan/College Station; she took pride in her work and was known for her gentle care and warm, friendly demeanor with her patients.

While working in Conroe, Cathy met Andy Reed, thanks to the successful matchmaking of his sister, Andra. They were married on May 9, 1981, and together built a wonderful life full of love, family and gratitude. They welcomed their son, Drew, in 1982 and their daughter, Katy, in 1985. Cathy was a devoted and encouraging mother to Drew and Katy, and she graciously extended that same love and support to many of their friends, who always knew they were welcome in her home.

In 1997, the family moved to Franklin, Texas where they still reside. Cathy made a home for herself at Franklin Methodist Church, serving in many capacities including a long tenure on the piano, which brought her much joy and purpose. Her community of faith at the church was a pillar to her life.

Cathy loved music, a passion she shared with her younger brother, Tony. She could often be found re-arranging her catalog of sheet music and learning new songs. In addition to the piano, she also played the organ, violin, and ukulele. Cathy found joy in caring for her family, reading and learning, and spending time spent with her dear friends.

While Cathy enjoyed many roles, none made her come alive like being Grammy to her grandchildren. Mila, Clyde, Jack, Ben and Sam were the light of her life. Her presence in their lives will be deeply missed.

Her life and legacy are marked by faith, devotion, wonderful humor and selfless love.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Chick and Hap Arnold; her brother, Tony Arnold; and her brother-in-law, Charlie Hrdlicka.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Andy Reed; her son, Drew Reed; her daughter, Katy Hodges (husband, Ryan); and her cherished grandchildren, Mila and Clyde Reed, and Jack, Ben, and Sam Hodges. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Edie Arnold; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Butch and Brenda Reed, and Andra and Scott Charlton; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at the Franklin Methodist Church.
