Billy Joe Bancroft, Sr. was born on February 12, 1940 in Desha County, Arkansas to parents, Joe and Alice Hoskins Bancroft. He went to his heavenly home with family by his side on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the age of 83 years.

Billy attended Leland School in Leland, Mississippi. He married the love of his life, Rheba Latricia "Pat" Hamilton on October 30, 1959 in Washington County, Mississippi. Billy was a resident of Robertson County, Texas for the past forty-five years previously living in Houston. He was of the Southern Baptist faith.
Billy was self-employed and later employed with Franklin ISD before his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rheba "Pat" Bancroft and his son, Michael David Bancroft; brothers, Charles Bancroft, Tommy Bancroft and EJ Bancroft; sisters, Betty Brown and Josephine Fox.

He will forever be remembered by all those whose lives he touched while here on earth but know he is now resting with Jesus.

Billy leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters, Karen Bancroft Veal of Waco and Elizabeth Richardson and husband Jamie of Wheelock; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Joe Bancroft, Jr. and wife Ruthie of Arkansas and Brian Bancroft and wife Carolyn of Wheelock; sister, Patricia Parker of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Billy is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Kathleen Gilkey, Billy Ray Bancroft, Jon Bancroft and wife Andrea, Danny Bancroft and wife Sierra, Latricia Veal, Heather Reeves and husband Bill, Madison Richardson and fiancé John, Nick Bancroft and wife Cheyenne, Matthew Bancroft and fiancé Chelsea and Macy Richardson, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, his best friend and brother-in-law, Ralph Roark and former daughter-in-law, Denise Girdley and husband David.

A service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, Texas. Dana Altimore will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wheelock Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home.
