Billie Bernita Brauer Behrens, 88, devoted wife, mother and Nana, joined her Lord and Savior on May 17, 2022 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born January 18, 1934 in Camas Washington. The oldest of two children born to William F. Brauer and Florence M. Henings Brauer. She met the love of her life at the Lawrence Welk Ballroom and married Alvin Dale Behrens on June 17, 1961 in the Wayfarer's Chapel in Portuguese Bend California. Together they raised 2 children, Michael Jon and Tracy Lee.
A faith filled Christian, Billie was confirmed and baptized on December 17, 1961 at First Lutheran Church in Venice, California. Throughout her life, Billie found comfort in her daily devotionals, Bible studies, attending church services and volunteering for their church community.
Billie was devoted to raising her children and volunteered in scouting and their other activities. She found joy attending their school functions. Later, she worked in the school as a food service worker, making sure countless children were well fed. Her specialty was rolls, cookies, cakes and brownies. Later in life, she found joy spending time with her 3 grandchildren.
Billie was an avid quilter and made beautiful creations in her church quilting guild. She had a great love of birds, especially hummingbirds.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 60 years, Alvin; her son, Mike and his wife, Angela, and daughter Tracy; her grandchildren, Stephen and his wife, Ashley; Michelle and her husband, Kohen; and Ashley and her husband Zach; and her 3 great grandchildren, Walker, Jude and Leo.; and her brother, Robert Brauer.
Services for Billie Behrens will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at the Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Franklin, Texas. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time Thursday at the church. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.
