Betty Jean Grimes was born on October 19, 1930 in Ft. Worth, Texas to parents, Alvin and Albina Jirasek Sawey.  She entered eternal life peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 with her daughter, Brenda by her side.

Betty married the love of her life, Billy Grimes on March 12, 1949. She devoted her life to being a homemaker and taking care of her family.  She loved her children and grandchildren and always made it her priority to take care of them.  In her younger years, she enjoyed things such as embroidery, needle point, reading, her neighbors and also being a great neighbor.  Betty loved her Lord and Savior and was of the Christian faith. She had spent the last eighteen years living with her daughter and son-in-law. She will be dearly missed by all who were a part of her life.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Albina Sawey; her husband, Billy Grimes; sister, Doris Tabler; brother, James Sawey and her sweet companion, Shadow.

She is survived by her loving family: daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Mark Scherback of Bryan; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Lynn Grimes of Garland; sister, Joyce Bridgewater of Milsap; four grandchildren: Julie, Justin, Melissa and Carloynn.  She is also survived by eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Laurel Land Memorial Park 6300 S R.L. Thronton Freeway Dallas, Texas 75232.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's memory to Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
