Barbara Jeanette Bates passed away at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, TX on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the age of 73. Barbara Jeanette Bates passed away at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, TX on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the age of 73. She was born April 27, 1940 to Virgle and Etna Earl Cobb in O'Donnell, TX.. She graduated from Franklin High School. Barbara married Norman Bates in Hearne, TX in 1958. Her and Norman raised their children in Houston and retired from General Motors after 35 years. And then they retired to the New Baden area and was a member of the New Baden Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Amanda Bates.

Services will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the New Baden Baptist Church 11:00 a.m. with Brother Freddy Burden officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday 9:00 a.m. till service time at the church. Burial will follow at the New Baden Cemetery
