Obituary

Altha Mozelle Sanders was born on September 2, 1926 in Franklin, Texas.  She entered Heavens gates on January 30, 2018.  She was 91 years, 4 months and 27 days old.

Mozelle was a 1946 graduate of Franklin High School.  She married John T. Sanders on February 25, 1949 in New Baden.  She was a life resident of Franklin, a member of the First Baptist Church in Franklin and also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Mozelle was retired from Franklin ISD where she was employed for 20 years.

She was a loving mother and "me-maw".  She loved cooking and would always prepare everyone's favorites when they came to visit.  She always had her home and door open to everyone.  She cooked and baked not only for family but for functions at church and VFW.  She was also known for her "Coconut Pie" that everyone loved.  She also loved quilting with her sisters.

Mozelle was a "doer".  She loved volunteering and being involved with WMU, VFW, teachers retirement and at "Helping Hands" in Bremond.  She always wanted to make a difference and support whatever it was that she was doing.

Mozelle had an unwavering faith in God and lived her life to show it and be an example.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Franklin.  Through the years she taught Sunday school, helped with vacation Bible school and attended WMU.  She loved singing in the choir and loved to hear hymns sang.

Mozelle was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John T. Sanders on January 9, 1999; her father, Atticus H. Floyd, her mother, Verna Irene Vann Floyd; grandson, Scott Sanders; great granddaughter, Morgean Kessler;  brother, Will Vann and several step -sisters and step –brothers.

She is survived by:

Daughter- Glenda Phipps and husband Ronnie, Sons, Ronald Sanders and wife Sharon, Larry Sanders and wife Cindy;  Sisters, Alpha Dooley, Maudie Barnett and Loretta Barnett ; brother, Howard Vann;  9 Grandchildren , Ginger Pierce, Missy Arevalo, Melanie Lackland, Sarah Watson, Michael Sanders, Sheila Parker, Daniel Sanders, Kayla Sanders and Mark Sanders;  19 Great Grandchildren;  2 Great- Great  Grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Franklin.  Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin, Texas.

The family would like to express a sincere heartfelt thank you to the staff nurses of Compassionate Care Hospice and to the nurses of St. Joseph Hospital for the wonderful care and comfort given to Mozelle during her last days.
