Alta Rea Turner Reagan, 96, passed from this life at her home, surrounded by her children, on 13 May 2013. Her family will receive visitors at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin on 15 May from 6:00-8:00PM. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on 16 May at the Franklin Church of Christ. Graveside services will follow at Bald Prairie (Robertson County, TX) Cemetery.
Alta Rea Turner was born on 16 July 1916 to Dock Bernard Turner and Dora Virginia Thomas Turner in the Seale community of Robertson County. She graduated high school at Marquez, TX.
Alta Rea married Robert Louis Reagan on 11 July 1936 at Grant Prairie, TX. Alta Rea and Robert lived in the Bald Prairie community.
Alta is predeceased by her husband, her parents, and Delton Turner (brother). She is also predeceased by Bobby Bonner and Iris Reagan.
Alta is survived by her children: Louie Reagan (Mary), Glenda Bonner Briscoe (Billy), Catherine Reagan (Mike Toups), Jimmy Reagan (Barbara), Nina Platt (Dean), and Steve Reagan (Elizabeth). She is also survived by younger brother Billy Turner (Zelda), 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Alta lived a significant life highlighted by frequent acts of grace. She was the keeper of histories and genealogies for her community and family. This lady was a longtime cemetery board member, precinct chairperson, and election judge.
