Obituary

Alpha Omedia Dooley was born on April 1, 1928 in Robertson County, Texas to her parents, Atticus Haygood Floyd and Verna Irene Mauk Floyd.  She entered eternal life on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at her home surrounded by family at the age of 94 years.

Alpha received her education in Franklin and married her husband, Zane Rex Dooley on April 26, 1946. To this union three children were born, Debra, Yvonne and Roger.  Prior to her retirement, Alpha was employed by the Calhoun ISD as an assistant teacher with special needs children.  She would share many funny, loving, and heartwarming stories of 'her children' with the family.  After spending years in that position, Alpha became the librarian for Harrison Elementary School until her retirement.  She loved working with all children.

Alpha was always a faithful servant for the Lord through her church in Calhoun County and then in Robertson County after her and Zane moved back to their hometown.  She worked with children's ministries, women's missionary ministries, and teaching conversational English to the Taiwanese in Calhoun County.

Many friends and family have expressed their memories and love for Alpha mentioning her grace, dignity, her smile, her love for the Lord, her family, and friends and how all of those qualities warmed any room she was in.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Zane Dooley; brother, Will Vann, Jr. and sister, Mozelle Sanders.

Alpha is survived by her loving family: daughters, Debra Salcido of Franklin and Yvonne McKay and husband Mike of Franklin; Son, Roger Dooley and wife Kathy of Hearne; Sisters, Maudie Barnett of Franklin and Loretta Barnett of Milano and brother, Howard Vann of Bremond.  She is also survived by her Grandchildren: Justen Salcido and fiancé Jamie Stowe of Franklin, Jennifer Salcido of Hearne, Nikki Gray and husband Tim of Franklin, Kassi McKay of Franklin, Rodney Dooley of Hearne and Trevor Dooley of Hearne and by four great grandchildren: Clara Stowe, Zeke Perez, Zane Henderson and Roan Gray. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as many friends that she loved dearly.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church, Hearne, Texas.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin, Texas.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.
